I have heard about the rule of 3's. The version I heard was slightly different but the effect is still the same. Regardless what Mac writes above is absolutely true. Especially the last point. You will never, ever stop wanting one. I have smoked and/or chewed tobacco for 30 years. I went over 10 years where I did not go a single day without having a cigarette. I had my last cigarette on March 3, 2011 cold turkey and have had not any nicotine since. I still want one almost every day and knowing this has given me the power to manage the addiction.

Welcome Dian,

Quitting smoking is far and away one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles, but I'm very glad you could find some comfort here.

Hang in there... and remember... "The Best Revenge is a Life Well Lived."

I have been a smoker for 20 years. I am going through a tough divorce from a sociopath that has been nastier that I ever thought possible. I really need and want to do something to just feel better. Better about me, my life in general and my reality as it is. This will help. The honesty is what I needed to hear.
